The A in ASP Athletics is for Acceleration. Every athlete needs to be able to get from 0 to top speed efficiently. Acceleration is a complicated skill. It requires patience, coordination, and force. Teaching athletes to accelerate properly sets them up for more speed.
The S in ASP Athletics is for Speed. The fastest athlete wins. Running at top speed you should feel effortless, like you are floating. I also believe speed is a skill that can be learned. Knowing how to teach the skill of speed will put athletes ahead of the competition. The P in ASP Athletics is for Power. Learning to express power, force times velocity, is critical. Power is the foundation of every athletic event. The amount of force you can produce over a very short period of time can be the difference maker. Content will be added regularly in my attempt to provide you with the most current thinking, techniques, and programs. Feel free to explore ASP Athletics.
